Congratulations to the beautiful Jimena Navarrete of Mexico, now known as Miss Universe 2010!

After a thrilling competition filled with stunning contestants as well as fantastic musical and dance performances, Jimena was crowned by Miss Universe 2009 Stefania Fernandez with the spectacular eco-friendly Miss Universe crown made by the Nexus Design Studio of Diamond Nexus Labs.  We can’t wait to see her wear it throughout the coming year as she travels the world on Miss Universe’s perpetual mission of peace, unity, hope, and HIV/AIDS awareness education.  The many exciting experiences and accomplishments she has ahead of her will surely sparkle all the brighter!

A meeting of present and future?Hundreds of her fans lined up to meet her in this fun, relaxed environment, including excited bride-to-bes who were attending the WeTV wedding expo in Mayfair Mall as well as Miss Wisconsin Courtney Lopez and Miss Teen Wisconsin Kirsten Norderhaug.  Stefania said she had a delightful day as well, meeting lots of wonderful people and trying on all kinds of great Diamond Nexus Labs sparkle.

Watch the 2010 Miss Universe pageant with us, live on NBC on Monday (8/23/10) night at 8 pm CST / 9pm EST!  You never know what will happen amid the excitement of live television!  (Remember last year, when the crown was dropped?  We know we’ll certainly never forget it!)

After all the hard work and long hours put in by the Nexus Design Studio to create the first eco-friendly Miss Universe crown in history, we are immensely proud and honored to see it passed on to a new titleholder.  It has been a joy to see the stunning Stefania Fernandez wear the official Diamond Nexus Labs crown this past year, and we are immensely proud and honored to have been a part of her reign as well as a part of the Miss Universe Organization.

Craig being “cool” for the camera.Craig, our VP of Operations here at Diamond Nexus Labs, turned 40 years old this week!  To punish him, a few of us gathered together to sing “Happy Birthday” and sent him a video of it while he was gone on vacation.  (Hey, have YOU ever tried to get thirty out-of-tune people to sing “Happy Birthday” on camera?)  Yeah…it wasn’t pretty.  But it is tradition, so we did it.  Sadly, since he wasn’t here to cut his own birthday cake, another Diamond Nexus Labs tradition had to go by the wayside: the tradition of Craig cutting cake pieces as big as dinnerplates.  (Though, as the staff here at headquarters grows larger, we’ve had to ask him to cut smaller and smaller pieces so that there would be enough cake for everyone.  Even so, most of us still tremble in fear of what Craig calls a “classic size” piece.)
